Okay, I think I have everything set up for my goslings. They will be here Tuesday morning. I have a gosling round pen for them to start out in.

And this for their feed

They will also get time outside each day to munch on any grass or dandelions that they want.

Will that be okay for them? I've been looking forward to geese for so long I don't want to mess it up.

Looks good, How many goslings? and you might want to get some Brewers yeast and sprinkle some over their feed daily just to make sure they get enough niaicn since the chick feed doesn't have enough for them. They may get enough in the grass and other things but you'd have it if you need it. And a thermometer so you can keep track of temps in brooder.

Looks great. But just my 2 cents-worth....I don´t use shavings for goslings, as they tend to investigate things, and I worry that they may swallow the shavings, that could kill them. Other folks use shavings without incident, so it´s up to you...just thought I´d mention it. I use floor cloths/towels that I wash and dry out and use again, as they poop like crazy.
Also, just out of interest...as the starter crumb says goslings on it, how much niacin does it contain? Any?
Other point...try to put clumps of grass, with dirt, in with the goslings. They love it, it gives them something to do, and they get trace minerals and grit from the soil, too. Very good for them.

Hmm, I didn't think about that. I will have to watch them closely to make sure they aren't trying to munch on the shavings.

I'm not sure how much niacin is in it, I will have to go look. I will use the brewers yeast and make sure they always have grass. We always make sure our baby chickens get clumps of grass too. Thank you so much for your thoughts.

When you get your goslings they will steal your heart! They are so endearing and put their whole life and trust into you!!! Remember they are only babies once so love and hug on them as much and you can. Have them sit in your lap and see how sweet and trusting they are. You will fall deeply for them let me tell you!!!
Pictures will be great waiting..

I have always loved geese. Then about a month ago they had some at the feed store. I picked one up and cuddled and oh my goodness my heart just completely melted. They were African Grays and honestly, at the time I didn't know very much about the different breeds. So on my husband's advice I didn't get any then. Instead I came home and started learning. I'm glad I didn't get any then because based on everything I've read (granted, geese are individuals and some will differ from what it says about their breed) they wouldn't have been the right breed for me. After much reading and deliberation, I finally settled on American Buffs. And, then everywhere I looked was sold out. I resigned myself to next year.

Then on a whim, I went to McMurray's website about a week and half ago just to look at them again and lo and behold, they had a hatching coming up. I was so excited and I ordered them right then. And this past past week and half has been torture waiting for them. You will probably end up seeing so many pictures you will wish I had never found this forum, lol :)
