Ready for Goslings

I have always loved geese. Then about a month ago they had some at the feed store. I picked one up and cuddled and oh my goodness my heart just completely melted. They were African Grays and honestly, at the time I didn't know very much about the different breeds. So on my husband's advice I didn't get any then. Instead I came home and started learning. I'm glad I didn't get any then because based on everything I've read (granted, geese are individuals and some will differ from what it says about their breed) they wouldn't have been the right breed for me. After much reading and deliberation, I finally settled on American Buffs. And, then everywhere I looked was sold out. I resigned myself to next year.

Then on a whim, I went to McMurray's website about a week and half ago just to look at them again and lo and behold, they had a hatching coming up. I was so excited and I ordered them right then. And this past past week and half has been torture waiting for them. You will probably end up seeing so many pictures you will wish I had never found this forum, lol :)

Wonderful! A lot people look at me like I'm crazy for being so excited about the goslings or because I chatter about my chickens because you know, "they're just birds." To me they are more than that and its nice to be among others who enjoy their flocks as much as I do.

probably everyone I know who doesn't have birds think I'm nuts. That's okay though

I just ordered 2 Buffs from Mcmurry as well and they should be here Wed. I have never had geese either and I am so excited! I have lost ducklings from them with small orders so I'm a little worried but I will think good thoughts. Congrats on your geese, I am wicked excited too!

Yay! We can be uber excited together. I wonder if our goslings will be related since they are from the same hatching date.

They might be! I will post some pictures the second they get here. I'm hoping it's not two males. We will just have to see. I am terrible at waiting!!!
