Hi there from the Central Coast of California!!
My husband and I just moved into a wonderful new house that has an awesome chicken coop already on the property. My husband grew up at a house that always had chicken and I've never had them in my life but am excited for a new adventure. Our chickens will be a new addition to our animal broad including 2 dogs, a cat, 2 goldfish, and my pride and joy, Spike - a 3 year old Sulcata Tortoise.
I'm thinking about getting 3-4 laying hens (roosters are not allowed in our area). I'm looking for a good "my first chicken" breed, something small, good layers, hardy, and friendly.
Any information or advise would be sure helpful.
Thank you!!!
