I do it almost every day, too. And I use it to get rid of produce trash that would otherwise be stinking up my trash bin - like cucumber peels, apple cores, carrot ends, watermelon rinds, etc. All things safe for chickens to eat, but things they can't effectively eat if I just toss it to them straight, so I buzz it in my mini food processor and mix it in with the feed and water. Otherwise they'll just flop the cucumber peels around and may or may not break them down enough to swallow, but more likely they'll just lose interest after a couple of flopsI do this almost every day. It's Chickie Snack, and I sing the Chickie Snack song.
As you said, it can be served cold in the summer, and hot in the winter. I also found it's a good way to get them to eat certain things, like yogurt or kombucha for probiotics, or electrolytes during really hot/cold spells.
