Hello from Western Wisconsin! I love reading all the posts to BYC and the comaraderie. I know where to go when I need help.
We don't have any birds, yet. I'll be starting construction on an 6' x 8' coop once our temperatures fall below "OMG it's hot" (don't know how you Southerners deal with it). Plan right now is for around 8 hens (yep, large coop for such a small flock) next spring. DH and I have never had birds before so this whole thing will be an experience for us. I'm looking at Buff Orps, Dominiques, or Delawares to start since they seem like they'll tolerate my learning curve and the cold better than other breeds.
Looking forward to chicken ownership and fresh eggs! I'll keep in touch.
