To provide some contrast I'm also working with the Aboriginal team who are also poorly resourced but because they worked with me all along, we resolved their aspect of the project to everyone's satisfaction long ago.

As I got off the water after a row on Sunday, I could hear a chicken doing her absolute nut from one of the nearby houses. I couldn’t work out if it was an escort call, or “SUN’S UP! LET ME OUT, IT’S FREE-RANGING TIME!!!”

I am particularly infuriated by moving goal posts today. Actually, it's not so much the goal posts as a complete change of sport. YOU CAN'T PLAY GOLF ON A CRICKET PITCH, says I. But we can if you build us a golf course on it, says them.

Sounds about right.

You're a spring chicken compared to me , but my husband and I both agreed that what made each of us decide to retire was workplace idiocies (often led by people 20 years younger, who seemed to spend most of their time updating their LinkedIn.) Good for you for trying to do what's right, despite all the office politics.

Today I found a way to meet the "new" requirements with a minimum of disruption and may even grab some leave after all - maybe half of what I'd planned.

But, yes, people who are only half informed but aspirational are wasteful.
