I have a 1&1/2 yr old black langshan hen (Lucy) who hatched out two chicks seven weeks ago. She has been a great mom. The chicks are pretty independent now and hang out with the rest of the flock and roost with them. They occasionally follow mom, but get along fine on their own.
When one of the other hens lay, Lucy goes into the nesting box & sits on the egg for several minutes. Sometimes she sits on top of the other hen inside the nesting box. She walks around the yard and run cackling loudly in the mornings.
Question: Is she just getting ready to lay again? Please tell me she isn't going broody again! She has been broody 3 times in the last year!

She needs to lay a clutch worth before going broody again. So she's probably about to start laying again. Expect her to go broody again. Some haven't had it bred out of them.
