My coop is just about done. Just need to finish the shingles and add a window or two.

Speaking of windows, is there an ideal location/height for windows? I read that it should be near the roost (but not directly inline to avoid drafts).

Also, is there a best time to move the chickens? Better first thing in the morning, mid day, or is evening ok? Am I over-thinking this?

They are about 8 weeks old. Four reds, two leghorns.

Will post pictures of coop as soon as it's done.

Thanks!

Probably a good window height is just above the roost bar height so that the chickens can sit on the roost and enjoy looking outside. My windows are great to let in natural light and provide a place to the birds to sunbathe in the Winter; Yet, not ideal for ventilation since it creates mid coop air drafts. I use to open the windows but now I just leave them closed or maybe crack them open and leave the coop doors open to the run. It may be best to add windows but create plenty of vents higher up that can be adjusted for air flow.

I would also move chickens early in the day so that they can get use to the coop and their surroundings before night fall. Good Luck!
