Ready to toss the bator, eggs and all (updated!)

I always start my up several days before I plan on putting eggs in, so it can stable itself out.

I know what you are talking about. I totally suck at this I dont think its the hova-bator I think its just me. I have ordered eggs 3 times and at this moment I have 3 eggs in bator who were due to hatch on the 7th and still dont have anything. So I took a accurite and calbrated it and it was 15% lower then actual humidity. When I put it in the other one already in there read the same humidity, meaning humidity was to high the whole time. At times when it read 65% it was actually 80%. I probally drowned my little chickies. How long do you guys think I should wait, before tossing everything out?

I ran my LG for 3 days before my eggs came and the temp was steady. Then when I put my eggs in, mine did the same thing. I thought I was going to lose it getting it stable, but now it is running steady as she goes with only minor fluctuations. I got one of those digital thermostats, and as others have said, it fluctuates up to a max and down to a minimum just like a house does in trying to maintain a constant temperature. I am keeping the faith that mine will be fine.

I went straight for the big guns... I got a Brinsea advance Eco 20 w/auto turn, and then asked for the R-Com suro for my b-day. I LOVE the r-com. It was worth every penny. I set the temp & humidity, it stays there, and I don't have to worry

The brinsea is also good at keeping an even temp, but it doesn't have the auto humidity - not a big deal - easy enough to take care of

Good Luck with your eggs!!!

Don't trash it! List it on Craigslist and then use the money towards the purchase of a real incubator! Best decision I ever made. Likewise with the Hovabator I bought. Used the proceeds from the sale of that one towards the first of my two Brinseas.

I just added some of my thought on temperature control to my page. you have to scroll all the way to the bottom since I am keeping my page as sort of a diary. and I entered it today. it is a little bit about how a thermostat even works mechanically to how other materials or objects in a bator might effect one and just some general if I could do anything sort of thinking. the idea of trying different things and actually recording results is a thing I love to do. time and resources not so much at the moment but I am working on it.
