My mother just told me that a few weeks ago, she bought a dozen eggs at W-----t, and one had a dead chick in it!!!!
I said either one of their eggs was at 100 degrees for 3 weeks, or someone has a sick sense of humor.
Thank Gosh I know where my eggs come from.

That is odd because most production hens aren't even with roosters. I have noticed that eggs from the store have been dirty lately. I mean I know eggs get dirty but the ones at the store just usually aren't. I am not too concerned as the only reason I got them was so we would have white ones to dye. Hopefully next year I will have my own white eggs :)

I am a little worried that the egg was stored at a temp that allowed the egg to develope though...ick!! If a baby can develope think of the bacteria that could also thrive!

there is the occasionally mis-sexed rooster in the bunch. Or so i read..
This might be true. But the egg factories that produce those eggs usually send their eggs through a screening tunnel where they check for cracks and imperfections. Eggs that dont make the mark get removed by the machine and will either be discarded or used in the pet food or pasta industry. The chances that there is a rooster, a broody hen sitting on eggs,a fertile egg onday 8+ and making it through grading happen all in the perfect time are slime to none.

Good theories. I believe they were organic, she said red writing. (she could easily have my eggs!)

It would be somewhat easy to believe that an egg had rolled under something and found and plopped into a carton.
I think it's easiest to believe that someone put it there. He probably has relatives in the Post Office. People need to get a life.
