Really big coop!

Avrilon, I know exactly where you are. I've been to Camp Merrill since we're former military, Air Force retired.
I have some nice true Ameraucanas, two blue pullets with a black cockerel who are just turning 16 weeks old this week. Their father was a show quality Black Ameraucana and I hatched them myself from a friend's stock. I also have Blue Orpingtons, Brahmas & Barred Plymouth Rocks I can sell hatching eggs from. My other hens include Silver Laced Wyandottes, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington and some crosses all having Barred Rock mothers and various fathers from another friend's flock. Anyway, my main breeding flocks are the Ameraucanas, Blue Orpingtons(very large, impressive birds) and Barred Rocks. If you're interested in seeing any of those, I'd be glad to send you pics.
That is one great building! I'd love to have had one already standing, but I had to build everything on this place except the actual house itself.

Hi Cynthia

I'd love to see some pictures of your chickens! Avoiding the PO would be great if you have birds I'd like - and you do have a variety! I've not made any decisions yet and am doing research on golden buff orhps, salmon faverolles, blue laced wyandottes (sp?) and some of the ones you mentioned - and others as well. Do you have favorites as far as friendliness goes? Do please send pics when you have time. That would be wonderful. Thanks!

By the way, while the chicken coop is huge and spacious, the little log cabin where we're going to live is tiny. We are going to have to add on to it before we can move in - or share some of the coop space!

Avrilon, instead of weighing down your email, I'll just post some pics on the forum and you can see what I have.
The Ameraucana line mine came from was bred for great blue egg color and although their mother was not as high a quality as the sire (she IS breeder quality, however), these should lay blue or blue/green eggs when they begin laying. My Blue Orp cockerel, Suede, is a massive boy and so are my two pullets. The Blues are the largest breed of Orpington and are supposed to be good layers; I can't say yet since my older pullet just started laying and the other one is 16 weeks old. Look for the post later the Chickens and Family Section. You are going to have alot of fun in the next few years!
