Hello all,

I have a one year old EE hen who after 179 beautiful blue eggs (yes I have kept track she one of three hens I have and they are my first) has all of a sudden started laying shell less eggs and they are really bloody. Today was the 4th one and it was really hard for her to pass. Every feather was puffed up and blood was dripping from her vent before the egg passed. and when it did it was a broken shell less and covered in thick mucusy blood. Gross I know sorry.

I ready just don't know what to do for her. She is on layer feed, has oyster shell available at all times. I've given her milk and fresh kale from the garden. Her shells have never been very hard compared to my other two girls but she is a beautiful sweet bird and I hate to see her suffer.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I hate to say this, but I would probably cull her. Sounds like she's got a serious internal laying issue going on. You might post this in the Emergencies section, if you haven't already. They might have some suggestions.

Sorry about your poor girl :hugs
