Really dumb question about chick meds???

This is what happens to some people when they get old like me. They can't remember a darn thing!!!

I haven't had baby chicks since last spring and I found in the fridge a plastic container (no name or label or anything) It's full of a cream color powder and I'm sure it was something to put in the chicks water for the 1st 6 weeks for immunity to disease. But I don't remember how much I add to their water and I don't remember what exactly it's for and I'm not even sure if it was for 6 weeks.

Does anyone have any idea what the heck I'm talking about and if so how much goes in the water, for how long, and why??
My new little ones will be arriving on the 28th of this month.

yea, i agree with d.k

-- If it that old i would just dump it (especially if your not shure what Med. it is.

-- Normally you measure to the .10 of the volume of container your using for a powder.

-- My reccomendation, you dont really need all of that in my opinion unless you have very weak chicks. just keep them on the medicated feed and clean the brooder and you should have no problem.

I agree, some meds to expire and if you don't know what it is for, or if it doesn't have a label, we can't say how or if you can/should use it. I do not use meds on my chicks and if they are shipped, just use sugar water.

Thanks. I agree I probably should just dump it. I think back and I think it was tetracycline from the feed store and I remember it turned the water a pale yellow. And I also remember him saying that it would keep for the next batch but I'm not sure he realized the next batch wouldn't be until now.
On the sugar water. How much sugar per gallon? I mix it by the gallon to have it ready
