hi
can anyone come to my chicks rescue. on friday 4 little black chicks hatched under my broody, then on sat another was on its way. when they had hatched and dried off i thought i would check them over. mother hen didnt seem to mind! the one that hatched on the saturday has a red sort of lump just under its bum. i really wondered what it was as the other 4 had the tiniest ones and they were all healthy. this chick though seemed weaker so i thought it was the red lump affecting it. i thought it might have been an ambilicol cord (hope i spelt that right!) do they even have those????
also i hav been out all day and when i came back the chick with the lump was out side the nest stone cold but alive!!!! i rushed it doors and tried to warm it up. luckily it was fine after about 30mins!!! i decided to bring all the chicks into the house out of the coop. the hen is even inside (in quite a small box but thats all i have and i really dont want to take her away from her chicks) i put the chick that was freezing (but was now warm) and has the red lump (that has sort of srunk) back under the hen. the chick now seems to have warmed up and is getting better but i am really owrried about this lump! she hasn't had a great start in life so i want to spoil her and make the rest of it a good one. can anyone help?????
thank you!
