I have silkies that are almost five months old now, but they don't appear to be growing well.
Here are two photos I took today:

I've seen photos of other five month old silkies and they are huge compared to mine.
My boyfriend thinks they may be mixed.
Does anyone know what is going on?

I prefer a smaller, more petite Silkie...it's what I'm trying to breed for.

Without other chickens in the picture to compare them too, it's difficult to say if they're small.

How's their appetite? Have they been wormed? Any parasites present?

sometimes the younger (smaller) birds get pushed out of the feeders and don't get quite enough food. I had a few that were late august hatch and they grew so slow I thought they were a bantam, by spring they were much larger and 1 yr later, normal size. try to feed them separate or suppliment them.
maybe even use a creep feeder like they do for cattle so the larger birds can't get the food but they can because of their smaller size.
