I have lots of experience raising orphaned ducklings but this evening, my daughter brought home an injured Mallard hen ( hit by car ) with 12 ducklings from the wildlife rehab place that she works at. They have no room at the moment so we are fostering for a few days. My question is how do you provide water for her without endangering the ducklings. I have cut a hole out of a large water bottle big enough for her to stick her head in but high enough that the ducklings can't get in. Any other suggestions? Also, I guess she will eat the duck starter as there would be no way of isolating her food dish.

That sounds like the best idea to me, it should help keep the brooder a little drier too. Hope she is feeling better soon!

Sadly, I had to separate them for the night. She has been given a pain killer and seemed to have no regard for the babies this evening. Will try again tomorrow after everyone has settled in.
