It you are seeing one at TSC or any other store that says it will hold 8 chickens it really means it will hold only 4. Most ALL remade coops are smaller than you think.

Have you checked cragslist yet in your area? I look under For Sale then click on free, check out these almost 100% ready made coops in San Antonio 7ftx4ftx4ft. I can even see double stacking them for an 8 ft tall coop.

This is ideal but i dont think they fo on sale!? Scanning craigslist or classifieds is probably is my best bet

Looking at the TSC screenshot I'd say that holds 2 largefowl top dogs the rest are there in the picture cause they couldn't get access to a roost.

I do not know if you have any tools to finish out a coop yourself, but would like to suggest if you want some cheapy tools you can't do better than harbor freight. Pretty much all you need is a hammer, drill/screwdriver, and a small 5 inch circular saw. If you want quality tools go hit pawn shops and pretty much if it says Dewalt or Makita you can't go wrong especially if it includes the batteries and charger. Oh and for corded power tools Milwauki is a great brand for quality. You can find any of those tools for 19-29 dollars at a harbor freight and the hammer probably for 5-10 dollars. As a young man I enjoyed learning these things and I can't imagine there is much difference between the sexes in this, sure you will get a blister or two building your own coop or modifying something you find.

I still find it very rewarding to find all 8 of mine in their coop that I modified each night. I read my breed roosts in trees yet they come home to daddy each night. Mine are only using a 4x8 section of their 8x8 coop, also they could care less about their 50x125 run as they want to run down grasshoppers and butterflies in the yard or beetles by the compost pile.

Please don't put 9 chickens in a coop that small!

What do you have now, post a pic, maybe it could be enlarged?
What are your building skills?
