(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
The first round of chicken raising was about 2-3 years ago. We had them for a while. Sadly they fell victim to the neighborhood raccoons.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 5 permanent hens and 9 temporary chick-lets. 14 in all. The most we've had is 21 chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orphington, Road Island Red, Plymouth Rock, New Hampshire Red and maybe a Golden Comet are the breeds for our 5 permanent hens. The 9 chick lets are a hodgepodge of ~4 breeds. We think one of them is a Plymouth Rock.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Found it whilst searching the web for help on one of our little baby chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Traveling is something I like to do. Seeing nature and all that. Making models is something I'd like to get into but am not doing currently. Learning about history and nations and the ilk is also pretty entertaining.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
The chickens share their love with a cat and a fluctuating number of fish. You'd think the cat would be a danger but she's more afraid of the chickens then they are of them.
Also, it seems our chickens have started a neighborhood-wide movement. You can often see some escaped chickens wandering the streets. It's quite the joy to see.
So BYC, how ya doing? Are those pesky city ordinances getting you down any?
