I received 6 chicks from a friend who was taking Easter photos. She got them out of the assorted breeds bin. Not sure of the breeds and age of the chicks. I have 3 of one breed and 3 of another.

Breed 1: Maybe leghorns?

Breed 2: The red/brown ones with white wings.

If someone can please help me figure out the breed and age of these chicks I will be most appreciative.

Also if you know what gender.

Thanks!
Josh

I am new at this, but the reddish ones are so light, I think they might be red sex links. Hope someone knowledgable comes along and helps you!

the white ones look like meat birds, yellow ones looks like gold sexlinks

if the white ones are meat birds, they will get huge fast, and eat alot.

Are you calling breed 2 the yellow ones? There are some Buff Orpingtons mixed in the breed 2 pictures which I got from a local hatchery.

I'm not as familiar with meat birds. I wonder if they could be the same age as the other chicks? About a week.

the yellow/red ones with white wings.

if they are meat birds they will quickly outgrow the others the same age. At 2 weeks old, mine where about the size of my month old chicks (2-3 times the size of "regular" ones the same age)
They are usually the only white chicks my TSC gets in, unless they get a few in their pullet or bantam assortment.

Supposedly the lady got these from another local hatchery but it could have been TSC.

So far the general consensus is that the yellow/red chicks are sex links of some kind. That's good to hear since we want pullets (unless I'm confused on which color is which gender). Unfortunately the breeder I got the BOs from doesn't sex so we will see what we got later.

Thanks for your help!

red/gold sexlink males are solid white.
