Recipes for your chooks!

I take a 2 1/2 gallon plastic pail and mix up dry cat food, BOSS, crushed eggs shells, hard boiled eggs (with shell), oat meal, flax seed, millet seed, brown rice, powdered garlic and cayenne pepper. I melt lard and or shortening with peanut butter on the stove. When its liquid, I pour it over the dry mixture and stir until it's all covered. I then fill up old tuna cans, cat food cans (with the lip removed if there is one) plastic bowls or containers that the dogs have chewed some and are no good for anything else, with the mixture. I let it cool and then give it to the chickens for their afternoon feeding in the winter months.

I also give them left overs that I can't give the dogs or chunks of suet.

These are really great ideas that I could have NEVER come up with on my own! It gives me such pleasure to spoil our girls. Thanks so much!!!

Thank you all so much for your neat ideas! Keep it comin'!

Cleoandtheo, yes, chickens don't have the special receptors to taste spicey food and it warms their insides up so they lay a bit better!
