I'm thinking of improving my brooder setup by adding a dimming thermostat like reptile keepers use so that I don't have to manually change bulbs in the heat lamp and depend on my kids to unplug the lamp at an appropriate time on hot days.

Can anyone recommend a particular model that's readily available either at Petsmart or via Amazon? I'm targeting under $35.

I had a line voltage baseboard heater thermostat from Lowes one time that actually cut the power back (dimmed the lights in 2 or 3 stages). I don't see it anymore on their website. That was the only thermostat I've seen that actually dimmed the lights. Every thing else just turns the power on/off. I took it back to Lowes but can't remember exactly why.

Can you use the Inkbird temperature controllers? They are cheap. You could set it at 100F and then set the swing to come back on at 95F. I have 3 of those things and use them for brooding, incubating, and germinating seeds.

Do you have a link to the model you recommend?

The Inkbird I use you have to wire it up yourself but they have other models. Let me look.
