I'm thinking of setting my 4 (almost 5) weeks old chicks in their coop for good since the weather has been good and they are almost fully feathered.

I wanted to place a solar powered light in their coop for comfort and maybe a little heat at night and slowly wean them off since their used to their brooder light (which hasn't been a heat lamp for about 2 weeks). Any recommendations?

You can do it but they still require some heat at night and also check your night time temps everyday to give you an idea of what you need to change. Best of luck.

They really don't need a night light (if there's insufficient natural light for them to find their way in, that's different - turn it on to get them inside and settled, then turn it off). Just toss them in there. They'll be upset the first night or two but will get over it.
