I have a young flock, all my pullets are just coming into lay and I have a few cockerels. I also have a few 8 week old chicks I just introduced to the flock. What are your recommendations on feed for a flock of varying ages? Also which are the most nutrient dense? If it’s organic that’s a plus too. I’ve had bad luck with scratch and peck feed in the past so I will probably stay away from that. Thanks in advance!

Stater/grower or flock raiser/all flock with oyster shell and grit served separately free choice. "Best" brands will vary by location. Look for best combination of protein, freshness, and price. The young chickens will do best with 18-20% protein.

I try not to make specific brand recommendations, and I don't put any value on organic, personally - but a number of BYCers have reported very good results with Kalmbach feeds, which target that market segment, in part.

I admit that if kalmbach was available to me, I would give it a serious look.
