Egg laying traits, color, size are polygenic traits(expanding multiple alleles and chromosomes), many of them are sex linked(Z chromosome). 3/4 Ancona pullets(F1 cross with Ancona father) will be as prolific as AnconaSex linked in the sense of being linked to the Z chromosome? So the Ancona X hens with an Ancona father would inherit there laying traits from that breed? Just trying to elaborate a little for my own understanding.
I can't find the study at this time, but on a Leghorn x Red Jungle Fowl reciprocal crossing, they found that pullets with Leghorn sire produced larger eggs(about 85-90% of Leghorn size), produced almost the same amount per year and were less inclined to go broody(about 10% of them went broody), hens with Red Jungle Fowl sire produced smaller, fewer eggs and went broody most of the time(about 60% of them).
