RECYCLE!

Along these lines -

I found these two articles to be kinda interesting.
I could not go with the vegatarian side of it but I like the non consumerism message.
It's about a group of people called "Freegans."
It's about trying to live as close to free as possible through "recycling."
Also, both articles were written by my mother.

I think you forgot to include a really important bit in the whole recycle game, and I don’t even blame you because most people forget about it. It’s called metal recycling. We may think rusting metal is a bad sight to look at, but it’s even worse for the environment. Leaching chemicals from rusty metal turn the soil acidic and allow for no plants to grow around it. The chemicals may even end up in the ground water. Recycling metals is the best idea because selling metal for scrap also pays you back monetarily. And it can be quite a hefty payout too if you have lucrative metals like brass and copper to boast of. I earned quite a bit of money this time by selling scrap metal at SIMS Metal Management in North Haven. I think it’s an option everyone should consider.
