Finally got my coop finished, and the girls love it. Made from 95% recycled stuff from around the house. Only spent $60 for 2 sheets of plywood for the roof and new chicken wire.

Thank you. I'm hoping they will too when they get old enough. Just have to decide on paint color.

Chicken wire is not predator proof, you need to replace or cover the chicken wire with 1/2" hardware cloth fastened with screws and washers or 1/2" fence staples. Kudo's on recycling that much. I try and do the same. Do you have any vents up high that we can't see in the photos?

The whole top probably 1 foot I left open with wire before putting the roof on for added ventilation. I know the chicken wire won't stop snakes, but it should hopefully keep the other critters out.

Good job! :thumbsup

I know many folks will be against the chicken wire.
I have it on top of my run. We have huge coons here. I know they get on top of the run. No breaches ever.
Works for me.

We have 4 hunting/ bird dogs which go out often through out the night. So if anything gets in the yard, they usually leave in a hurry. Lol. Plus the hardware cloth was double the price of the chicken wire.

Are those corner angle pieces the roosts?
They should be 12" higher than the nests(so they don't sleep and thus poop in the nests),
best to have 12" of roost length per bird at least 12" away from walls.

I need to make them some different roosts for sure. They roost on them during the day, but at night they still sleep in a pile.
