On one of the websites that sold the chickens, it said they were made on a metal frame. I'm wondering if even molding chicken wire, then tying the plastic on might work.
It can be done, but if you are not using recycled materials it would be expensive. The black that I have done so far is one large trash bag. I made a chicken wire frame. Cut trash bag cross ways in approximately 5 1/2 strips, the better you cut the size the less trimming you will have to do. I pleated the strips across the 5 1/2" length the entire length of the plastic.(think tissue paper carnations, if you are old enough to remember)
Hold the pleated strip and thread it through one of the holes in the chicken wire and up through another hole. Each hole will have one strip, fluff the pleats out once you have a few done. Pulling the pleats apart is what holds the plastic in place. I think electric fence wire will work for the feet. You will get jabbed by the chicken wire body so beware. Polish Crested rooster in the makings. I probably wouldn't work on him more today as I need to check for old plastic bags before I go any further.
If the trash bag has the yellow tape pull top, it works for the beak and the eyes. I think the eyes are just the yellow rolled very tight. Then I used the thick edge of the top of the trash bag and rolled that around the yellow center, taped it tightly together and pushed it though one of the holes in the chicken wire.
I have to tell you, I walk by this thing on the table and have to stop and put a few more pieces on it, it has had me laughing most of the day.
His head feathers still need to be trimmed, but he is funny still.
