Red Barred roo over dominique hens what results would I get.

Anyone have any other ideas info or tips on how to recreate his color. Thanks in advance for any reply.
edited to say I appreciate everyones help any more Ideas welcome.I used the color calculator to help me figure out some more on this project. But I was wondering if I was to cross some of my Rhode Island Red leghorn cross offspring togather if I get any reds could they be fast feathering or should I try to get some red leghorns. And would the Rhode Island Red cross Dominique Male off spring carry over to the blurred barring or not. I was plannig to cross Rhode Island Red roo over Dominique hens and Dominique roo over Rhode Island Red hens then take roos from the first cross to the barred hens from my barred red roo over red sexlinked and Production red hens. Then take females from second cross and Breed to barred males from my Barred red roo. Then take extra males from second cross and breed to pure Rhode Island red hens to add new blood. and Cross etra barred red male offspring from Barred red offspring over pure rhode Island red hens for new blood. Any advice or info appreciated. Hope I didn't ramble much. Thanks in Advance for any extra Advice or Info Thanks.

I edited above post with more info and questions as to my project and planned Breeding program. Any Further advice or info. greatly appreciated thanks.

I got a similarly colored roo from a cross of what guess was a Barred Rock roo with a RIR hen. He was a beautiful roo and I would like some more, but I didn't try to recreate them before I sold my RIR stock.

Did the man you got him from have any hens from the New Hanp./ Dom. cross? I would have thought they would have been like Black Sexlinks instead of the Red Barred color.

Keep us posted as you experiment.

yes he did have some hens and yes they were all solid black and i think he said some were solid red.

To keep the blurred pattern breeding your male to any rapid feathering red birds would do the job. I don't know whether production red are rapid feathering. Do production reds have white tails? If so they would have dominant white which would make at least some of the offspring's tails white.

I doubt you'd need to be crossing more dominiques to RIR etc......unless you want to do this for fun. Your bloodlines aren't going to go stale in a hurry & there are always more red birds easily available..
Usually one would expect a barred or dark cuckoo bird to give black or black barred offspring. Their having produced red offspring indicates that the bird was not 'pure' for black.

Thank you I appreciate the Info. Yes the red sexlinks do have white in the tails. So instead of useing the sexlinks would it be better to use rhode island reds to get more black tails instead of red.
edited to say I reread the above post and no Prduction reds have black tails but the red sexlinks I planned to use do have white tails.

Rooster Spur, I saw a roo much like yours last week at a swap meet. I almost bought him but held off and then went back but he was sold.
Anyway thanks a million for posting the pics and saying what you thought he might be. I was gonna try and reproduce one but I didn't know where to start.
Now at least I am getting ideas for some new projects.
Thanks again.

RIR wouldn't give you the rapid feather gene you wanted. I can't be sure that production reds would but there's a chance & if they have black tails they might be worth a try. Also I'd guess the prodction reds might be faster to mature, being bred for production.

Thank you very much i will try production reds then. And if anyone can think of any other fast feathered red breeds I would appreciate it.
