uhhhh Chris, thank you so much!
That helps a lot! I am kind of intrigued by the BO mix idea
I like Buff colors. Right now I have the BO with fellow BO's and Barred Rocks in one pen. The Australorp is with everybody else and boy does he throw some nice color, especially with a game bird I have in there. Unfortunately, out of his 10 babies 8 were roosters but I will keep trying. I have found that Australorp and Delaware do not make good chicks colorwise. The colors are really strange, like an off yellow with black spots. Could be good meaties though. the chest is nice and deep. I call those babies Swiss cheese. I have mated the Australorp with Barred Rocks and I have found out that the babies look like Barred Rocks also. What would I be looking for in the chick stage to determine Boy and Girl? They looked like the typical BR chick to me with the yellow spot on the head.
Here is my Australorp rooster.
Here are some of his chicks. Like I said, the yellow ones turned out kind of funky looking. The grey one was a gamebird mix. he is now a buff greyish color with brown on his wing tips. Very cool looking.
Again, thank you all for your input. I really appreciate you and all the nice people on this forum.
