Sorry I don't know how to change the forum that I put it in. I'm sorry that I caused trouble, but can you tell me how to switch the forums?

Peeps it happens... see above this that you are reading???? look at the top.... it says "Index, User list, Rules, etc......" Click on the Index it will bring up all the different forums... Look for the right one... today you are asking about your chickens laying... so you would click on "Chicken Behaviors & Egg Laying" Understand??? IF you have a skunk attack... you would post that under "Predetors" If you need help... Just ask...

LOL!! Thanks, I'll try not to cause anymore trouble. Anyways back to my topic, so what should I do, get another rooster or wait for another week or two to see if the hens are laying?

Your welcome!!! No, what was your question again? Oh Yah, okay how long has it been since she layed the first egg??? The comb folding over is not a bad thing... it's a good thing from what I have read. I know there are several others that have asked this same question. You might want to click on the Chicken Behaviors & Egg laying forum and look at the question that have been posted there and read them.
As for you rooster why do you not think your rooster is doing his job? He has nothing at all with your hens laying... even without him your hens would still lay... the only thing the rooster does is... helps you to have baby chicks...
I really do think that if you go to that forum I mentioned you would have all your questions answered just by reading what others have written.

Well one reason I don't think my roo is doing his job is because he pecks the hens when I'm in there and he is very stern about his food. I was thinking he was just keeping them in line. It has been 4 days since my hen layed her first egg. I built some nesting boxes and hopefully this will spark the interest to lay eggs. Oh, by the way, thanks for being such a great help, I appreciate it.

No egg today either!! Well then again it is early. Oh well, she'll start laying soon. Anyways my sister now wants chickens cause she saw mine. I'm going to get some RIR and some red sex-links soon, so hopefully they will lay as well.

Peeps, at times it does take up to 10 days before a hen will lay the second egg. Just be patient. It took mine I believe a good 7 days before one of mine layed again after the first egg. As for the rooster, he will come to dont worry. Your hen does not need him to lay an egg... just to fertilize it. Did you go and read the other posts like I suggested??? You can find out alot of info just by reading what everyone else has to say.
