Red Combs but no laying....

I am not really very worried that they are not laying, our oldest girls are only 18 weeks old, but I am curious. The three oldest are a RIR and 2 RSL's. I also have three barred rocks and all of them have bright red combs and are pretty big. Is it possible that they are ready to lay, but aren't laying yet due to the heat? It's been up around 100 degrees for several weeks now. I know they are young, but their combs turned super red a few weeks ago.

My RIR is 20 weeks with the comb and wattles of a rooster and I still don't have any eggs. 2 days ago I caught her in the nest box making a nest, but no egg.

I guess we'll have to wait till she's ready.

mine are 20 weeks an started laying 2 days ago 5 br & 5 bsl , the wait for them to start laying is stressfull but it will happen

My RSL started laying at 18 weeks to the day last year. weather was good though. This year my GLW is 16 weeks, red comb, wattles and no eggs yet. my EE did the squat yesterday,but no red comb or wattle. My Cochins show nothing.
