I started our chicks with a red heat light and they just never seemed to calm down, so I changed it out for a black heat light and this is what they did within minutes. Relaxing and soft peeps. I keep a thermometer that I bought at Petco in the reptile section, so I always know what the temperature is. Happy little peepers.

I'm intrigued. What wattage is your bulb? Where did you find it?
I bought it at Petco in the reptile section. It’s a 100 watt black light heat bulb. It puts off enough heat to have their brooder at 90 degrees right now. I’ll raise it next week. I’m also thinking that this is going to help with their circadian rhythm too.
