Red irritated skin on hen.

I hope i can get her better. She is a fravolles my favorite breed. And even though she is not in the coop with the rest of the flock I'm going to clean there area real good to. And put down some de in there area. Thank you all.

Yes, with rescues you never know. It's good you've kept her separate from the rest of the flock, so she doesn't contaminate a healthy flock with anything. You should keep her quarantined for at least 21 days. I typically dust, and worm newcomers before introducing them to an established flock. I'm not a big advocate of DE. While it's touted as natural, the assumption is that it's also safe, and effective too. That's simply not true. In addition, there are far too many that will attest to the fact that when their chickens had mites, the DE failed. When facing an infestation, it's best to use a product known for it's efficiency. This provides quicker relief to the chicken too, which should be the goal.

So its been a few hours since I treated her i also apply more cocoa butter to the red spots and the redness has gone down so much. And she seams to be feeling a bit better. Did another check do love lice this time did not find any. Did find some dead ones though. So im going follow up with another treatment in 7 days. And continue to use the cocoa butter to ease the red skin. Will also continu cleaning and treating cage she is I daily. Dont care if its over kill. I want her to get better soon. Not be so misirable
