Hello. I am currently looking for some home treatment suggestions.
My welsummer rooster, 4 months in age, has red, itchy, cloudy eyes. It started in one eye and now both eyes seem to be red and itchy. We have tried terramycin ointment 2 times daily for 7 days and it did not seem to cure it. We have also tried flushing the eyes with an eyedrop solution. He has been like this for a few weeks. I am trying to cure him myself before we take him to a vet.
The rooster is eating well, he eats the chick starter food from purina and gets occasional fruit and vegetable. He also has access to clean water. His poop does seem runnier than the other chickens.

Currently he lives in a chicken coop with three other chickens. They get daily use of my grass yard and return to the enclosed run and coop at night. The other chickens do not have any issues.

Here are some pictures of him. His name is Lyle.

What's the inside of his beak look like?

Look him over for lice and mites.

General care for the eyes would be flushing/cleaning with saline, then applying Terramycin into the eye, at least once daily.
Since you have been doing this and have not seen improvement, it would be a good idea to seek vet care.

How's the ventilation in your coop, any strong ammonia smells? Probably not since the others are o.k., but just checking.

What is your location? Have you noticed any chickens sneezing or having crackles when breathing? Have you wormed him lately? I would be tempted to give Tylosin in his water 1 tsp per gallon for 5 days. SafeGuard liquid Goat Wormer 1/4 ml per pound for 5 consecutive days given orally would be effective for most worms.

Could he by chance have eaten something like creeping buttercup or similar plant of the ranunculae family?

How does his skin on his body look, is it as yellow as around the eyes/ eyelids?
