I used to have a hen. Cant keep roosters and had a heck of a time convincing seller to sell me just the hen. At closing time he finally sold her to me. The rooster is where the magnificent colors show. Hen looked similar to a game hen but larger than my bantams. They are exotic ornamental birds that do not lay very many eggs. If I run across some more at the swap meet, I will consider getting more hens. Probably just one or two would be fine since I only keep chickens as pets, . I like assorted variety. Currently I am considering getting 2 Icelandics, but the seller only had 1 hen available, and I prefer to introduce new chickens in pairs.
BTW the following pix really inspired me to pursue getting some. They are medium size kind of like my Polish Gals.
