Hello,

We got a pair of chicks from a friend last year and really love these chickens. So last month we attempted to hatch their eggs ourselves and all of them hatched.

Just wondered if anyone can help identify the breed.

Both the father and mother can fly really well! The father is very protective and aggressive so we have learned not to mess with him.

Thank you,

Thanks. Friend just told me he bought them from PurelyPoultry. They told him these are old english ginger but the rooster looks more like the Indian Red Jungle Fowl on their website.

This how red jungle fowl looks like.

I'm starting in 2019 of breeding these breed. My rooster just beginning to do his bussiness. I got the cockerel and pullets from different breeders. The pullets are all sisters, but the cockerel is non-related. I hope to have some good looking chicks.

Somehow when 1 out of 5 pullets, this pullet show up and it looks really rare to me. She is somewhat not to wild like her siblings that I got. She more easier to catch by hand than a net. When I sent this hen to the breeder, he told me she was a project pullet out of his thailand gamefowl x red junglefowl. I'm surprise how I got her and she was the first to lay egg. Her eggs is lightly bigger than the normal sized red jungle fowl eggs. Instead of breeding her to the rjf roos, I breed her to my lonely bantam black sumatra.

It's hard to raise pure rjf and so if you want to practice on hybrid rjf, I think it's a good idea. When you are ready, try the pure birds.

I know it hard to raise them just by lights and boxes when they were chicks. I tried it couple times, but it didn't work until I have 6 who have survive. One turn to be a half breed. I'm good with them now, but somehow my rjf rooster is very territory in his 6H x 12W x 6L pen with other roosters. For me, it's easy to catch him by hand. It takes me to tame him for 3 months.
