Red legs on light brahma rooster

Did you ever get an answer to this? My brahma rooster is having the same issue and I can’t find a clear answer.

Was this ever solved? I been treating my rooster for legs mites for a year. I will assume it isn't mites. He's lost a toe now. None of the other birds show any signs of whatever it is. But all the hens have saddles worn in now. Thinking it's time he lives in a kennel.

This thread is a few years old, so the OP may not respond.

Photos of your own rooster's leg and feet may be helpful as well.
How have you been treating SLM, what method?

Did you see the responses that were given?👇👇
I would start with leg mites treatment. You might consult with your vet, who could possibly prescribe an anti-inflammatory drug, such as prednisone. Castor oil is found at most stores in the laxative section for about $2-3 and would be good to put on the legs. It is less messy than vaseline, and lasts longer. It has other properties that might help. Before the oil, I would try to bathe the legs in epsom salts.

I found a post from someone a while back about a Brahma with scaly leg mites. There are a lot of similarities between your bird and the bird in these posts. They both have the same redness in the base of the quills.

My light brahma rooster has red legs that look swollen but he shows no signs of being sick. I thought mites so I dusted for them and cleaned out both coops. No change. Then he was dusted for lice and I put Vaseline on his legs to smother mites. Still no change. All chickens have been wormed and no change in food.

I'm wondering if it is his hormones. He turned a swollen red like this when my other two roosters in the other coop matured and started crowing.

No one else has red legs...but I do have one hen, with a red bottom I can't seem to get cleared up.
