I put a red heat lamp in my coup and keep it on through the night and was wondering if it messes with my chickens. Any information on this?????? THANK YOU!!!!!

are your chickens under 8 weeks of age? if not then they do not need a light. my hardfeather orientals are good down to 0 degrees

Unless they are babies u don't need a heat light. They can be really bad fire hazards in a coop so be careful. I use a white led light on a timer that kicks on in the early morning to keep my hens laying, but light on 24/7 can sometimes cause stress.

They are Productions and are about 9 months old. It's starting to get cold here. I was told the red light would not bother them but that was "feed store talk".

You don't need it, they should be fine. But if they are laying hood and you turn off the light suddenly they might stop. I offer about 14 hours of light total and its working for me. But they don't need a light 24/7.

You don't need heat and red light will not incite the hormones that spur winter laying.
