Hello! I'm new to this site and have a problem with one of my week Old chicks (she'll be a week tomorrow) she's the youngest, and I had to help her hatch. She hasn't grown as much as the other birds and you can tell by a mile.
I've noticed like dangly bit on the bottom of her belly and thought it was poo. It's just fallen off and left a red, raw looking lump! And I haven't a clue what it is. She's currently settled in my hand which she usually does.
Does anyone know what it could be?!

I have a picture but not sure how to upload it on iPhone!

Is it her belly button? They can look quite red and raw when they are that young. There should be pictures on this site you can compare it to.

I haven't a clue! It's more under her bum. I have some pictures:

Aww, poor thing. That looks like her navel to me. It looks like the scab fell off and left a red, raw spot in it's place. Look around on this board and on the raising baby chicks board for advice on healing a chick's "bellybutton" "navel" or "umbilical stump". I'm guessing that it hadn't completely dried up before she was out of the egg. Don't let the others pick at it.

Chick update, I checked her and she seems fine, the red lump on her tummy has healed and she seems fine so good news! Just need her to have a growth spurt now!!

And hello everyone, thanks for helping out :)
