Red Mites? HELP!

treating the bird is only half of the battle. How do you clean the coop? Have you considered a mixture of Agricultural Lime, Diatomaceous Earth and water? My grandfather called this white wash. He painted everything with this.
i'm throwing only a suggestion. I have no experience here... following this thread for advice as well.

Melissa,

No I have not seen any bugs. I've heard though that they are hard to see as they only come out at night. But, I've gone out there at night with a flash light, still nothing. Some where I read that this mites can go into their ears and the recommendation is to worm up some oil and put it in their ears. Did that, no improvement. Girls don't have a roo to keep them company.

BakerJohn,

Thanks for your recommendations. I will do the second dusting today and see what happens. I washed the coop with a mixture of water, bleach and soap. Then I used a hose with tons of pressure to get into the tight spots. New pine shavings mixed with sevin dust all over the place. Still I see no mites during the day or night. Surely I would have seen something by now! The only thing that makes me feel better about this whole mess is that the peeper girls act pretty normal. Still running around (destroying my garden), taking dust baths, eating drinking etc... My husband says if I payed as much attention to him as I do the hens, he would be a very, very happy camper.
