Red Mites

Hello one of my hens has red mites do i need to remove her from the flock.? BUt still have not be a misfit? Pease help.

You need to treat the whole flock as well as the coop.

Help the mites are thick on the butt of some of my hens. Should I trim the feathers down for the DE to reach the skin?

It would be best to use sevins dust.

Okay, does it work like DE?

DE will not rid them of mites...

As pwand says...use Sevin Dust or Permethryn...either will treat the mite infestation...you will also have to re-treat the chickens, housing and including nesting boxes again in 7-10 days to eradicate any hatching eggs from the mites.
