Red Mulch for Nesting Box & Coop Floor?

Just what it says. Currently i use the pine flake from TSC in nesting box, but i have a few bags of this mulch left. Since the last storm my flakes are soaked. CAn i use this in its place in the nesting box? It is a completely open front design. So plenty ventilation

Next, can i put this stuff down in the yard for them to scratch & keep the mud down? I live in swampy Louisiana so the ground after a rain stays wet. There yard is 25x25. I would only put it in a few spots that are almost always muddy.

I would be VERY dubious about using it for anything involving animals -- or with anything other than ornamental beds that don't contain anything intended for human consumption.

Threw it on the slop area anyway. I didnt put it in nest. Best case scenario im good.. worse case i got alot of chicken for gumbo so is that really a bad thing for a coonass... hahaah we shall see i be the guinea pig

A common bagged option that's similar but not dyed would be pine bark nuggets. Getting harder to find undyed wood products without going for bulk amounts.

like i said i normally buy pine flakes. Which im goin get tomorrow.

but this stuff was my second favorite “F” word. So i took it.
