Red nails on my black silkie chick

My one week old black silkie chick's middle toes are red. What does that mean?

Maybe he's pecking at them?

You didn't mention if you have additional chicks with it. Toe pecking is quite common.

Oh, I was hoping to see a pretty pick of a dolled-up silky chick with painted nails. I'd suggest painting them a nuetral color for a few days. They tend to peck at red. You could then see if it goes away.

I find it hard to believe that any of the other chicks are doing any pecking on her ,as she is the tallest biggest girl in there ,all the same ages. It does not look like any sort of pecking sore on either of the 2 toes?
