Anyone have opinions on which is better/more effective? I already have the red heat lamp bulbs from the chicks which I was planning on using through winter for heat and light, but I'm wondering if I need to have a separate white light bulb for daylight simulation in the winter months??
It's pretty gray in the PNW during the day, but not extremely cold...

I have 2 lamps so could do heat in one corner of the roost and white light in the other, but is it really necessary??

My main concern thru winter is maintaining egg production, not too worried about warmth, we get little cold cold weather...the heat lamp should do fine for that.

I live in the Seattle area and during winter I use a white light for heat. It all depends on how powerfull the light is. This year I was going to try to use a red lamp, they worked really well for chicks in the winter.
