The babies’ first trip outside! They were quite stunned. Stood motionless and wide-eyed for a long time, then a car honked nearby and they all flocked to my arms for protection 🥰 Got comfy there and took a nap. It was beyond adorable! Pet quality chickens are the best.

<chuckles> I remember those days.
Have not spent much time with my current batch of brooder chicks,
thus they do not view me as a 'safe haven'.
I’m afraid these will be the last chicks I’ll be able to do this with. By next spring I’ll probably be back to the office full time. Plus, this is the last batch I want to keep chicks from (unless somebody dies and needs replacing). Any future chicks will be for meat, so I imagine I’d try to stay more detached... I’m really loving these guys though.

Enjoy...it's special!!

This pic?

I see wattles in the one farthest back on the left......and maybe the one at farthest right.
Next couple weeks should tell the tale, tho I've read that Orps can be hard to tell.
I posted lots of portraits and close-ups at the bottom of page 21. My guess is Pooh is a girl, Blinky and Lemonade are boys (the ones you pointed out from the lap photo), the Pretty One is likely a boy, and the Baby I’m not sure about, but it has new shoulder feathers now that are looking girly, so there’s hope.

I don't know about the feather patterns....I go by combs and wattles

I only see 2 definitive males based on combs and wattles, but it might still be too early and there might be others that are developing theirs slower... Or should combs and wattles all be there by now if the chicks are the same age and same breed?
