Hi Guys,
My friend found this chicken wandering in her backyard half starved and delerious. That was a week ago.. No word of anyone who have may have lost her.. .so now she is mine....here is a pitcure two days after I picked her up.. She is a beautiful gal a bit jittery so I haven't gotton any really good pictures. But she is healthy, happy and laid her first egg yesterday. Any idea how old she is??? And why are her legs green??? Maybe she is mixed, but with what???

Is there such a thing as a Red polish chicken??? I have only delt with my Wellies and honestly she looks like one of them.. same color and every thing, well except for the huge wig she has on her head

and thanks to all my friends here... we have named her Tina Turner... do to the attitude, great legs and fancy hair doooo

She is probably a cross between a new hampshire or rhode island red. Polish have slate blue legs, so whatever was crossed with it probably was yellow pigmented.
Hopefully somone will correct me if I'm wrong??

her legs are definately green....almost glow in the dark kinda green... she also has two white dots on the back of her head that look like eyeballs looking at you. I also noticed today the bottom few wing feathers form a pattern, like a seabright... but she is big like my welsummers.. aren't polish chickens on the smaller side??? She sure is interesting to watch....love her so much!!!

the white in the crest is just a standard polish thing, even when they arent supposed to have it, it pops up, mainly cause the original colors they all came from are white crested.
Large fowl polish are pretty big actually, the bantam size yes is small.
She looks about the right size, but yes a little heavy, her body is too thick for polish type.
aside from being fat as mud, and green legged, she's pretty much a polish

I understand that one hatchery sells a Red Polish.I believe it was started a few years back by crossing Golden Laced Polish and Black tailed Red Leghorns. That might explain why some would through the yellow skin/green leg.She would be useful to bred back to as some of her chicks would have slate legs if mated to a male with slate leg color.
