Hi there! I'm new to this whole hatching eggs thing (decided to give it a try after my beloved rooster was brutally murded by some foxes
) and thought why not try to hatch my own eggs in a DIY incubator? Bad choice. Temperature fluctuations, humidity issues, etc., So needless to say, it's been a rough two weeks with these 6 silkie eggs I've decided to try and hatch from eBay — yes, eBay!
Anyways, now that the introduction is out of the way, I have a bit of an odd predicament.. I have been candling my eggs every few days or so and Egg #2 had this outline of blood so I figured it was a blood ring, but decided to give it a little while... They are officially 2 weeks old as of today (May 28th of 2018), so I decided to candle the eggs tonight and Egg #2 has, to my complete and utter surprise, CONTINUED TO DEVELOP but STILL has this blood outline. So I'm not sure what to think right now. The air bubble looks good and healthy, no black outlines around there but the embryo itself seems to have the outline and I don't have the heart to throw the egg out since it's the only one that has seemed to survive the intense temperature and humidity fluctuations (definitely buying an incubator and not using my own if this batch of eggs is a flop!!!). I'm hoping the hatching experts on this forum can help me out here because I'm baffled on whether or not this is an abnormal blood ring, a deformed silkie, or just me being a worrier and there is nothing wrong. Keep in mind I used a normal flashlight to candle these eggs.
