Red sex-link with black feathers - 10 weeks old

At ten weeks old, that is a cockeral, no doubt. The comb, legs, and starting to get saddle feathers already all scream roo.

Yes, lots of combos can make sex-links, and that's why it's always chancy to get some non-hatchery sex-links. You never know what went into the mix. But that isn't a sex-link cockeral, they are silver based and that bird is gold based. It looks like a new hamp, or some type of production red. And I see what you mean about stout birds, that boy looks like he'd be some good eating in a few more weeks!

I have to agree with Pele. Where did you get it that they said it was a red sex link? It looks more like a production red to me.

I'm pretty new to chickens a rsl would be like a rir over a br, a production red is just a non heritage rir?

I agree with Happy Chooks. She is an expert at "sniffing out," cockerels - cross breeds are unpredictable if you can't see what each parent possesses.
