I have a mixed flock of 7 chickens, with one confirmed cockerel. I can only have 1 rooster so I am hoping I am wrong.... Glinda is about 11 - 12 weeks. Was sold to me by Tractor Supply as buff Orpington but she clearly isn't. A lot of people here said she is probably a red sex link or a mutt. I dont care what she is as far as breeds go but the past couple days her tail feathers are looking slightly sickle to me? This is my first flock so I have been learning everything from BYC! I hope she isnt a cockerel .. she is so sweet and the friendliest of the bunch. So hopefully you guys tell me she is a red sex link and I'm nuts and to stop staring at my chickens all day taking photos!!!! lol 😄 Thanks everyone you are all so helpful!

I think red sex link cockerels are lighter in color, but with multiple colors compared to the red of the pullets. I'm pretty certain you have a pullet.

I hope so .. I think I'm just making myself crazy but I worry what if she isnt a true red sex link and some other kind of mixed breed. The other chick I got with her, who was also labeled as buff orpington pullet is a true orpington.

You wouldnt get a "mixed" breed from tsc. Hybrids are not considered a mixed breed because they've perfected the combination enough it's a breed of it's own. Hope that makes sense. :)

several of my young pullets had weird curled tail feathers and drove me mad with anxiety that they were secret cockerels. Eventually those curly feathers molted out.
