Red Splash?

When I google pics of splash pekins (waiting for eggs to hatch), I see some birds with red based colouring. Obviously this is not traditional splash but i was interested in how they look and what genes are involved. It seems there are two options, either blue red x blue red giving some splash red birds, which are mostly red on the hackles, but with a darker black based tail like a traditional splash. How do you get a blue red pekin as it's not a colour i've seen much of? The other option is a red based mottle. I assume you breed the mottle in like you would in a black bird, but again i haven't seen many red pekins, only buff- how would you go about developing this?

Wow I'm a big newbie on this. I'm not sure if there is a red splash. Yes there are red (cochins here), but reds are not the same as blue genetics-wise. A blue chicken is formed from a dilution gene. A red bird is a wheaten base with mahogany enhancer (wow I may be really stepping deep here). The closest I can think of to a red splash would be the calico.
Blue laced red would be a project, Coops Cabana was working on one, I suggest visiting the site, It's very interesting.

So what I gather is by "blue red" you actually mean gold birchen with a blue gene. Breed brown red (gold birchen) with blue or splash then back cross the blue offspring to brown red. This will produce some "blue reds."

Yes, I think Calico is another name for what i would call red mottled, though some of the calicos i have seen look more like mille fleur. We seem to have buff but i've not really seen red here (though i'm only just starting so they could be out there in Aus somewhere). I'm having trouble finding the site. Thanks for your help!

but to me this seems more red than a gold birchen with splash so i'm not sure if that's what I mean? Does this bird look like it has more red enhancers in it than that?

Thanks so much for your help, I haven't seen much brown red here either, but most of the Pekins (Cochins) i have seen have been your standard black or buff. Would love to see the Coopa page but can't seem to get that address to work for me.

The funny thing about Pekins and Cochins for me is I think about them so synonymously that I just hop right to the term “Cochins” without noticing.
The Bird in the picture is actually Splash based Red Pyle. BL/BL instead of dominant white
Are you sure? To me, it looks birchen based. Otherwise it would have a gold wing triangle.

In addition, it seems melanized like it is on a birchen based. Partridge base would give a clearer white.
